According to emails from Blackbaud, the much anticipated release of The Raiser’s Edge Version 7.94 has been delayed until Sunday, February 8 (I’m assuming for non-hosted clients it will be available on that Monday.) Blackbaud cited “findings in additional regression testing and customer feedback requesting additional time to prepare” as the reason for the delayed release.
Anticipated changes with this update include:
- Moving Phones/Emails/Social Media information off of the Address Record onto the Constituent Record
- Additional options to mark phones, etc. as Primary or Inactive
- No longer relying on the Microsoft Office Web Application technology to generate Dashboard Panels and Pivot reports
I will be posting here extensively over the next few weeks about what these changes mean to your organization. As always, I welcome your feedback and questions. If you are hosted, please stop back by and share your experience with us!
Keeping you on the Leading Edge,
The third annual #GivingTuesday was held on December 2, 2014 and the results continue to be extremely positive.
Online giving for #GivingTuesday 2014 was up 36% compared to 2013. Blackbaud processed more than $26.1 million in online donations on #GivingTuesday 2014. This was up from the $19.2 million processed on #GivingTuesday in 2013.
There was a 15% increase in the number of nonprofit organizations that processed an online donation on #GivingTuesday 2014 compared to 2013. This growth continues to show the widening reach of the #GivingTuesday movement.
Online transaction volume grew 50% compared to 2013. The average online donation on #GivingTuesday 2014 was $128.30. This was slightly down from last year, but is higher than most industry averages.
Worth noting that Blackbaud found about 17% of online donation form views came from a mobile device for a sub-set of nonprofits. Some very interesting things continue to happen with donations on mobile devices that Blackbaud continues to research and monitor.
Blackbaud is the leading provider of online fundraising software and online donation processing, handling more than $3 billion annually in online fundraising. The #GivingTuesday analysis is based on over 4,300 nonprofit organizations that received at least one online donation on #GivingTuesday 2014. Since the inaugural #GivingTuesday in 2012, overall online giving is up 159%.
In this day of instant gratification….
emails, texting, social media, and IMing…
imagine my delight at finding this in my mailbox.
I had just returned from 2 straight weeks on the road with only 18 hours at home between trips and was beyond spent. What a lovely gesture, just when I most needed to be reminded why I do what I do.
Handwritten thank you notes are like pearls……
they are always welcomed and never go out of style 🙂
Seven seems to be such a magical number. It appears in so many different contexts:
- Lucky 7
- The Seven Dwarfs
- 7th Heaven
- The 7 Year Itch
- 7 Deadly Sins
- 7 Wonders of the World
Today marks 7 years since I went live with Leading Edge Software Solutions, flipping the switch on the website and fervently praying that I wasn’t planning a private party. To this day, I remain grateful that I had clients waiting in the wings and that my phone continues to ring daily. After 7 years, I honestly believe that the party has only just begun 🙂
I’m pleased to report that I don’t have the 7 Year Itch. I still feel blessed every day to enjoy the privilege of helping my clients do their awesome work and get more from their Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge databases (and dollars!). It thrills me no end to know that I have little lambs sprinkled across the globe.
In spite of the fact that I’ve probably committed most of the 7 Deadly Sins, my clients remain loyal to me and supportive of my work. On any given day, I could probably be confused with any one of The Seven Dwarfs-well, except Bashful 🙂 Still, my friends and family continue to believe in my vision and dreams, which puts me in 7th Heaven!
In the grand scheme of things, the 7th anniversary of Leading Edge is no 7th Wonder, but in my little world, it’s no small wonder. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for the role you have played over the last 7 years. I’m humbled-don’t laugh, I really am humbled. It has always been-and remains-my goal to be a worthy steward of the time, money, and/or faith you’ve invested in my little dream. I’ve made every effort to be faithful to that goal every day.
So, year 7 is already poised to be the luckiest ever. As we speak, I’m preparing for my first ever presentation at the Blackbaud Conference in Nashville. This is an opportunity I’ve yearned for since my early days at The Baud and was my number 1 goal for 2014. Plus, I’m already booking business for 2015.

Thank you for helping prepare me for this opportunity to be lucky. To say the least, I’m in 7th Heaven!
